BuildITSmrt was founded on a simple observation: the company that builds your software shouldn't be a stranger to the people running your IT. We do both.
Built on what the uniform taught.
Before BuildITSmrt existed, its founder did what every American servicemember does: stood up, took the oath, and signed a blank check made out to the United States of America for an amount up to and including his life. He prayed it would never get cashed. It didn't. He came home, took off the uniform, and spent the years that followed watching from the civilian side of the table as good organizations got taken advantage of, again and again, because technology wasn't their core business and the people they trusted with it took the difference home.
BuildITSmrt, LLC was founded in February 2024 to be the alternative. We're veteran-owned and operated, and we run the company on the United States Marine Corps' core values — Honor, Courage, Commitment — plus a fourth we hold ourselves to just as hard: Integrity. Honor in what we recommend. Courage to tell a client they don't need what they're being sold elsewhere. Commitment to the long-tail problems most vendors won't touch. Integrity in the price, the scope, and what happens after the invoice clears. That's the bar — for the managed IT we run, the software we build, and the products we ship under our own name.
The principles we operate by
Be useful, not impressive.
We don't pad scopes, oversell architectures, or recommend tooling you don't need. The best technology decision is usually the simplest one that works.
Own the outcome.
We don't bounce tickets between departments or vendors. If we said we'd handle it, we handle it — even when it crosses disciplines.
Tell the truth, early.
If a project is at risk, you'll hear it from us before it shows up in an invoice. If a request isn't a fit, we'll say so — and refer you to someone who is.
Build for the long run.
Code we write should still be maintainable in five years. Infrastructure we deploy should still hold up after we're gone. No throwaway work.
Security by default.
Hardening isn't an upsell. Sensible defaults — MFA, least privilege, patching, backups — come standard, not as a premium tier.
Treat people like adults.
Plain language. Honest pricing. No fear-mongering, no contract gotchas, no auto-renewing surprises. We win the next year by earning it.
