SmrtCash — Quick Start#

Create your account and see where your money goes in about five minutes. SmrtCash is a hosted service — there's nothing to install.

1. Create your account#

  1. Go to smrtcash.builditsmrt.com.
  2. Click Sign up, enter your email, and set a password.
  3. Check your inbox for the verification email and click the link.

Your 14-day free trial starts automatically — no credit card required up front.

2. Add an account#

  1. Click New Account — give it a name, pick a type (e.g. Credit Card, Checking, Savings), and save.

3. Get your transactions in#

You have two ways to bring transactions in:

Connect a bank (fastest):

  1. Go to Connections.
  2. Link your bank — transactions sync automatically and keep refreshing on a schedule.

Or import a statement:

  1. Go to the Import tab.
  2. Choose the account you created.
  3. Select a CSV or Excel statement export from your bank.
  4. SmrtCash detects the format and shows a preview — number of rows, a sample, and any problems.
  5. Click Import to save the transactions.

Re-importing the same file is safe — duplicates are skipped automatically.

4. Let it work for you#

Once transactions are in, SmrtCash starts doing the heavy lifting:

Open the Dashboard to see the picture come together.

Troubleshooting#

Problem Fix
Didn't get the verification email Check spam; request a new link from the sign-in page
"Could not recognize this file's format" Use a CSV export from your bank; some banks need a one-time column mapping (the import wizard walks you through it)
Bank won't connect Some institutions need OFX Direct Connect instead of the default aggregator — see the in-app Connections help
Forgot your password Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen — you'll get a reset link
